7 Essentials Tools for Social Media Monitoring

Never before in history have your customers had such an influential voice on your brand. With the power of the Internet at their sides, they have access to reach literally millions of people with an opinion of your company. This is a scary notion, but even scarier if you are not listening in and monitoring what they are talking about.

But don’t fret. The truth of the matter is that, while social media is a fairly new way of thinking about your communication strategy, it’s not that difficult to monitor what is being said about your company or brand.

Twitter

Simply go to Twitter Search and enter your company name. If your company name has two or more words (eg. Alter Imaging) you may want to search for it with the words combined (eg. alterimaging).

Hootsuite - Twitter Monitering

Hootsuite lets you moniter mentions of a specific keywords (aka your company name), tweets that are pending, and sent tweets. You can even moniter mentions of your competitors. Sweet!



Monitter - Twitter Monitering

Monitter is a Twitter specific application that lets you "moniter" specific  keywords and watch what people are saying.

Tweet Beep - Social media monitoring

Tweetbeep lets you keep track of conversations on Twitter that mention you, your products, your company, anything, with hourly updates! You can even keep track of who's tweeting your website or blog, even if they use a shortened URL (like bit.ly or tinyurl.com).

Board-tracker - Social media monitering

BoardTracker lets you monitor forum posts, topics, and actual forum names which is great for knowing when a new forum starts to discuss your company.

Social Mention

Social Mention provide a snapshot of conversation taking place about your brand.  Enter a keyword and switch between blogs, twitter, bookmarks, comments, events, images, and more.

Lexicon

With Facebook being the most widely used social media site, it's important to keep track of the conversations that are happening there. Facebook Lexicon will help you do it.  You simply enter a keyword and it counts the occurrences of words and phrases on "Walls" over time.
